Calibrate your printer first

Before tiling a pattern, print this test square to confirm your printer prints at true scale. Measure it with a ruler — it must read exactly 100 mm. This takes one sheet of paper and 30 seconds, and it's the single most important step for an accurate pattern.

⚠️ Set your printer scale to 100% before printing

Your printer will shrink the page by default, which makes patterns the wrong size. You must turn scaling off.

Adobe Acrobat / Reader: Page Sizing & Handling → choose 'Actual size'
Google Chrome: More settings → Scale → 'Custom' → 100
Mac Preview: select 'Scale:' → 100% (not 'Scale to Fit')
Windows / other: look for 'Actual Size', '100%', or 'Do not scale' — never 'Fit to page'
